World map: where can you wear shorts today?

The globe above shows per country — and when zoomed in, per province or region — whether it is shorts weather today. Orange means it is warm and dry enough; blue means it is not. Data is refreshed every three hours via Open-Meteo, based on maximum daily temperature and precipitation probability.

Frequently asked questions about the map

How does the world map work?
The map shows the current weather forecast for each country today. Orange means it is warm and dry enough for shorts (at least 15°C and less than 90% chance of rain). Blue means it is not warm or dry enough (yet).
What does zooming in do?
When you zoom into a country that has province data — such as the Netherlands, Germany, France, the UK, the US and more — the map automatically colours by province or region, showing exactly where it is and isn't shorts weather.
How often is the data updated?
Weather data is fetched every three hours via Open-Meteo, a free and open weather service. Because forecasts change continuously around the world, we maintain a three-hour buffer to keep data fresh and reliable.
Which countries have province data?
We currently support provinces and regions for: the Netherlands, Germany, France, the UK, the US, Canada, Australia, Spain, Italy, Brazil, India and Japan. Just zoom in on one of these countries to see it.
How do you decide whether you can wear shorts?
We use the same logic as the main screen: maximum daily temperature and maximum precipitation probability. With default settings, it is shorts weather when the temperature is above 15°C and the chance of rain is below 90%.
Can I search for a specific city on the map?
Yes! Use the search box at the top of the map. Type a city or country and the globe flies to that location automatically. For a precise weather recommendation for your location, go back to the home page.
